Date adopted: 19 February 1937
Symbolism: The horizontal tricolor of red, white, and blue represents the Dutch people and their struggle for independence. The colors were derived from the Prince's Flag, which was orange, white, and blue, used during the Dutch Revolt against Spanish rule.
