Facts about the flag of Lebanon
Date adopted: 7 December 1943
Symbolism: The cedar tree in the center of the flag is a symbol of holiness, eternity, and peace. It is a reference to the famous cedars of Lebanon, mentioned numerous times in the Bible. The red stripes symbolize the blood shed for liberation, while the white stripe represents peace.
- Pantone colours: White, Red, Green
- Aspect ratio: 2 : 3
- Hanging protocol: The Lebanese flag is typically hung horizontally with the green cedar tree in the center, ensuring the red stripes are on top and bottom and the white stripe with the cedar is in the middle.
- Design pitfall: A common mistake is misrepresenting the cedar tree's color or orientation, or placing the tree off-center.
