Facts about the flag of St. Vincent Grenadines
Date adopted: 21 October 1985
Designer: Elaine Liverpool
Symbolism: The flag features three green diamonds arranged in a V shape, symbolizing the Grenadine islands and the country's nickname 'The Gems of the Antilles'. The blue represents the sea and sky, the yellow represents the sand and sunshine, and the green represents the lush vegetation.
- Pantone colours: Green, Yellow, Blue
- Aspect ratio: 2 : 3
- Hanging protocol: The flag is typically hung with the green triangle at the hoist side, the yellow diamond in the center, and the blue field on the fly side, with the three green diamonds arranged vertically in the center of the yellow diamond.
- Design pitfall: A common mistake is misplacing the three green diamonds or reversing the colors of the triangles, which can lead to confusion with similar Caribbean flags.
