Facts about the flag of Slovenia
Date adopted: 27 June 1991
Symbolism: The flag features three equal horizontal bands of white, blue, and red, with the Slovenian coat of arms located in the upper hoist side of the flag. The coat of arms shows the image of Mount Triglav, Slovenia's highest peak, in white against a blue background, with two wavy blue lines below it representing the Adriatic Sea and local rivers, and three six-pointed golden stars arranged in an inverted triangle above it, taken from the coat of arms of the Counts of Celje.
- Pantone colours: White, Blue 286, Red 485
- Aspect ratio: 1 : 2
- Hanging protocol: The flag of Slovenia is typically hung with the white stripe on top, blue in the middle, and red at the bottom, with the coat of arms positioned toward the hoist side.
- Design pitfall: A common mistake is confusing the Slovenian flag with the Russian flag due to similar white-blue-red horizontal stripes; however, Slovenia's flag includes the coat of arms, which is essential for correct identification.
