Facts about the flag of Rwanda
Date adopted: 25 October 2001
Designer: Alphonse Kirimobenecyo
Symbolism: The blue represents happiness and peace, the yellow represents economic development, the green symbolizes hope of prosperity, and the sun represents enlightenment.
- Pantone colours: Green, Yellow, Blue, Gold
- Aspect ratio: 2 : 3
- Hanging protocol: The flag of Rwanda is typically hung with the blue stripe on top, followed by yellow in the middle, and green at the bottom, with the sun in the upper right corner (hoist side).
- Design pitfall: A common mistake is to confuse the orientation of the sun symbol, which should be in the upper right corner when displayed vertically or horizontally.
