Facts about the flag of Panama
Date adopted: 4 November 1925
Designer: Manuel E. Amador
Symbolism: The flag's white field represents peace and purity. The blue star stands for the purity and honesty of the life of the country. The red star represents the authority and law in the country. The blue and red colors also represent the two political parties, the Conservatives and Liberals.
- Pantone colours: White, Blue 286, Red 186
- Aspect ratio: 2 : 3
- Hanging protocol: The flag of Panama is typically hung with the white field containing the blue star in the top left corner (hoist side).
- Design pitfall: A common mistake is to confuse the positions of the blue and red stars or to invert the quadrants, placing the red star in the top left instead of the blue star.
