Facts about the flag of Namibia
Date adopted: 21 March 1990
Designer: Theo Jankowski, Don Stevenson, Ortrud Clay
Symbolism: The sun represents life and energy. The blue represents the sky and the Atlantic Ocean, the white represents peace and unity, the red represents the people and their heroism, and the green represents agriculture and vegetation.
- Pantone colours: Reflex Blue, Yellow C, Red 032, Green C, White
- Aspect ratio: 2 : 3
- Hanging protocol: The flag is typically hung horizontally with the blue triangle at the top hoist side, the red diagonal band running from the lower hoist side to the upper fly side, and the green triangle at the bottom fly side.
- Design pitfall: A common mistake is to confuse the orientation of the diagonal red band, sometimes reversing it or flipping the flag vertically, which is incorrect.
