Symbolism: The green field represents the lush vegetation of the island. The cross represents the Trinity and Christianity, with its three colors symbolizing the native people (black), the fertile soil (yellow), and the pure water (white). The Sisserou Parrot, a national symbol, is centered on a red circle, representing social justice.
