Facts about the flag of Bahrain
Date adopted: 14 February 2002
Symbolism: The red color traditionally represents the Kharijite sect of Islam, while the five white points symbolize the five pillars of Islam.
- Pantone colours: Red 186 C, White
- Aspect ratio: 3 : 5
- Hanging protocol: The flag of Bahrain is typically hung with the white serrated band on the hoist side (left) and the red field on the fly side (right). The five white points should be clearly visible and facing right when displayed horizontally.
- Design pitfall: A common mistake is confusing Bahrain's flag with Qatar's flag, which has a similar serrated design but is maroon with nine points instead of red with five.
